Mike Smith

New to the Business Agent Fort Mill

Mike Smith spent 23 years moving all over the country - and the world - retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army.

For his second act, he became a women's basketball coach and senior associate director of athletics at Presbyterian College, where he coached and mentored young adults from all over the country.

But when it was time to settle down in 2012, Mike and his wife Lynn came home to York County in South Carolina. His mother - a Realtor® in Clover, SC - gave him some valuable advice.

"She told me Allen Tate was the biggest and the best," he recalls. "I was confident that we would have opportunities with Allen Tate that we were not going to get anywhere else."

As a real estate team, Mike and Lynn drew from their own experiences of moving every two years to help clients through the process. They were strategic in building their business, getting leads from walk-ins and phone duty at the Fort Mill office.

In 2013, Mike was named Rookie of the Year. The following year, he was Most Valuable Team Player and earned the company's Master's Circle distinction for sales performance. He credits Fort Mill Branch Leader Carol Hampton and others for teaching him the business - and sharing expertise in technology and marketing tools.

In 2015, Mike was given the opportunity to join the Allen Tate leadership team, as branch leader of the Lake Wylie office, where he drew on his experience as a military leader and coach to recruit and train agents and help them achieve their career goals. Recently, he returned to active selling because he missed the challenges and rewards of working with clients.
